1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass

1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass

What was your first car?
And would buy one now?

My first car was a 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. I bought it from my neighbor for $800. It was the car she used to go fishing so you can image the smell it had. I was still proud of it I mowed yards and washed cars to earn the money to buy it. I washed it almost everyday. It turned out to be a clean ride. The color was two toned Beige and Gold. If I had the chance to get once again I probably would.

My first car was a 1978 Pinto. Bought her for $75. She was a 4 banger with a 4 gear, dark blue with a light blue “Starsky and Hutch” stripe. Yes I would buy another one just to relive my youth and maybe do to it what I had originally planned for the first one.

I started out with an 82’ Firebird, in 1992 when I turned 16.
Had an Iron Duke 4 cylinder, and a three speed.
But it was red, had air shocks in the back, and mag wheels.
Everybody wanted to race, but it was only good for about 75, with a strong tail wind….

My 1st car was a 1977 Camaro I loved that car! It was a birthday gift from my mom. She got it for $500! It needed alot of work tho. It had a 283 in it that leaked oil faster than you could put it in I ended up spinning 4 bearings in it so I bought a 355 w/ 2.02 camel backs and a very nice rumpity rump cam in it!! then I lost my license ( Go figure huh! LOL) So the car went into storage for a long time and when I finally got it out and ws gettin ready to start in on it I was in the middle of a divorce so I took the car to a buddies place so she wouldnt get it and he got kicked out of the place and didnt tell me and WhenI found out about it my car was gone :( needless to say I havent spoken to him in a loooooong time and I want to get another ‘77 Camaro so bad!!

I guess I’ll be giving my age away, but my first ride was a 1935 Chevy Master Delux coupe with a rumble seat. Paid 85.00 for her and drove her to high school for 3 years. Traded for a 57 Bel Air.

1961 Comet. I was 16 and the car was my uncles. Bought it for $100. He used to haul pipefittings around (back seat removed) as he was a plumber. Put ball joints and a manifold it in. My brother rear ended a brand new Mustang and totaled it! Now I own another one!

My first car I bought on my own was a 1970 Hemi Cuda convertible. I bought it for $850. It was fun to take to the race track and do the quarter mile. It was fun to drive, but everyone thought it was my brothers car or my boy friends car. When I moved to California I ended up selling it. Man, I really miss that car.

My dad traded a 60 chevy truck for a 63 Chevy Impala 2 door hardtop. He said I could have it when I was old enough to drive, never happened, sold it. My first car when I got my license was my grandfathers 71 Chevy Impala 4 door hardtop that he bought in 72 and I wish I still had that car!!!

mine was a baby blue 2 door 74 plymouth valiant with a pretty healthy 318/727 combo in it. lost it street racin when i was 17. the rear lost traction slid sideways in the ditch caught some dirt and rolled about 7 times at about 90 M.P.H.! it happened just like the drag on american grafitti, between milner and falfa! broke my arm, cheekbone, and collar bone. probably very lucky to be still alive after that one. needless to say my dad promptly removed the area between my back and legs!!
