The '57 Mercury 312. We'll do this up nice with new forged, domed pistons and cam from John Mummert and top it off with an Edelbrock 573 tri-power intake for full nostalgia!

Larry,
Thats a nice Y you got there. Mine originally came with a 312 but it was swapped with the 390 a while back. I just took the Director of Marketing position over at Egge Machine. We make all our pistons right here in Santa Fe Springs, CA.

I can’t tell you how may ‘56 Fords I transplanted an FE into. Been doing it since I was about 15 years old. Good way to add an instant 100+ horsepower. Love the 390 so much I kept it in my ‘61 Starliner.

My 312 is at the machine shop getting bored .030” over. I got a set of Probe forged pistons with a 10 cc dome from John Mummert in El Cajon, CA. Good guy to deal with for Y-Block engine parts.

Good Luck with the position at Egge! They’ve been keeping so many classics on the road for years. A great supplier of everything for the enthusiast. Being in the Fabulous 50’s Ford Club, the number one question I get asked, is where to find parts for the old MEL 383, 410 and 430 Merc, Edsel and Lincoln engines from the ‘50s. Easy answer Egge Machine!

Take Care!
Larry
