I’ve been attending the world famous Monterey Car Week for close to 20 years now. Held each August on the Monterey Peninsula in Northern California, what started as Vintage Races through the forest coupled with a fine display of elegant cars known as the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance has grown to more than one dozen public events over the course of a full week. It’s hard to pin down just how many invitation-only events are held on top of these as people work to corral the many auction bidders and consignors plus thousands of collectors in town from all the world for the most significant week on the global collector car calendar. We’ve all wondered why there wasn’t a central information source on this week. My client got smart and started www.montereycarweek.com. Check it out. There’s a news page that posts press releases from all the events such as auctions that talk about the significant cars on offer. There’s a full schedule of events so you know exactly what’s going on every day of the week. There are pages for dining and lodging in the area and even real estate. Also, there’s a forum for people to communicate and express their thoughts. Make sure you visit www.montereycarweek.com to learn about this automotive phenomenon that has a few hundred thousand of us coming back year after year. While my client La Dolce Vita Automobili at Black Horse is my “favorite” event in town, I can’t wait for the next day, Saturday August 15, when the Concours d’ LeMons is held. “Celebrating the Oddball, the Mundane and the Truly Awful of the Automotive World”, you’ll see some of the worst cars ever made, proudly displayed and competing for awards like Worst in Show, WTF??? and Most Dangerous. Expect to see the cream of the crop when it comes to names like AMC Pacer, Gremlin and Ugo! Find details about this event and all the other car week events at www.montereycarweek.com
