About
I my search for European custom en hotrod subjects I came across the 1931 Bugatti Type 51 Dubos Coupe. This car started out as a Grand Prix racing car and after a short season it was sold to André Bith. He took the car to Louis Dubos in Paris who made a custom bodywork to combine luxury and racing.
Apparently the chassis and body got separated and after 50 years got reunited after a purchase from an auction by the Nethercutt Collection who owned the chassis. The original owner provided the Collection with documents and photos.
It was restored for the 2003 Pebble Beach Concour where it took second place.
I took the original design and stretched it out to give it a sleeker appearance.
