Thanks for the lighting response yesterday with Bill Tempero driving the Longhorn Can Am car. Bill’s from my hometown and did a lot with a little money. TODAYS QUESTION: This is another early wing experiment in the early days of Formula 5000. This driver is a well known American. The car manufacturer is well known, but not for this unsuccessful experiment. Name the car and the driver.

I think it’s Sam Posey and the so-so Caldwell F5000 car. Sam probably wasted a good part of his early career racing those weird things. The Can Am car was a total bust as well. That is where I get one of my sayings…”Trick yourself right onto the trailer”...Been using that line for years!
