Scale News: "Goin' Downhill Fast"... My Quick n Dirty Christmas Day Build
Since the wife and I weren’t going anywhere or doing anything special on Christmas Day, I spent a good portion of the afternoon in the hobby room and threw together this fun, simple little build, just for giggles.
The model itself is a resin copy of the old Soap Box Derby racer originally found in the annual issue of AMT’s ‘69 El Camino kit… The resin kit was one from a long defunct company call “Grandpa’s Toys” and hasn’t been available for many, many years…
It was very simple kit with only six pieces, but required a fair amount of clean up, filling and sanding…. Painting was all done in quick dry lacquers and the build proccess was sped up even further with the aid of a modified food dehydrator to make the paints dry faster.
Something a little different for me (I mainly focus on drag racing models), but this was fun distaction.
