Whats wrong with this car for Good Guys events?

Whats wrong with this car for Good Guys events?

I am sitting here in the middle of winter, Coldest day of year,And I am thinking of what big shows i can attend this year, I have done the 06 Power Tour, Was a Long hauler,I have done NSRA shows, Richmond 2 times and Vermont once,Also have been to Syracuse to the Right Coast Cruisers Syracuse Nationals,Which are in the plans again for this year, I have even cruised Woodward during that weekend, But not in my Car, That was with a friend in his car,Any way I want to go to a Good Guys Show, I am a member and have been for years, But just because my title say 76 not 72 I can not enter, Oh they have a couple events I can attend, In The west, way father than I have ever driven my car, Oh maybe I should be clear, I drive mine, No trailer here, Don;t own one, And yes the have a Show in Florida that is open, But why do they have to have this 72 cut off any way, Isn’t a hot rod a hot rod no matter what year it is, And Pro Street well that can be anything also,As for them saying Muscle Car ends in 72, Well that slaps the guys with the grand nationals and the Super Duty Firebirds,I think back when the year deal was added it was to keep mom and pop everyday rides out, But does my car look like an everyday ride.Do you think if Rad Rides by Troy had built my Car they would allow it>(No offence to Troy love his work)Or if Boyds Shop or Foose had designed and built it.I just want all to start to look at why in 09 a car that is hand built and 32 years old can not attend an event.I just want to have fun like I see so many others do that attend these events
Thanks for letting me get this off my chest.
Oh and Yes I built my car from top to bottom, only thing I paid to have done was paint

I think that the the cut off date is designed around the fact that emissions started to choke the muscle car then. Also the appearance of the ungainly box/collision bumpers may have something to do with it. Although the bumpers on your car have been nicely integrated into the design of your car, you must admit that that design feature was not Detroit’s finest. Also it is probubly an attempt to limit the total number of cars in attendance. Kinda sucks for you, ‘cause your car is pretty wicked!! Maybe the cut off date will be updated in the near future!!!

Thanks for comments, And i would agree to the numbers issue if it wasn’t for the fact I can Buy a Brand New 1932 Street Rod and all the parts are made in 2009, At least make it something like they do for those type cars, Open to Pro Street all years, Must have a certain ammount of mods to be allowed in, i can take my 1997 S-10 pickup and put a kit on it and go to any show, My point is Car shows should allow any year as long as it is a Car A man built or had built to Show, My words are not coming out the way I want cause I think each case has its place and a custom car is a custom car no matter the year

So who sets the year,And how do we get it changed, NSRA has opened several events to a rolling 25 year, Why not same for Good Guys, I joined Good Guys way back when so I could go, and then found out I couldn’t, At least Right Coast Cruisers is open

Yeah, they really need to loosen up a bit. Smog emission laws do not apply to anything pre-1975 anymore. I had a 75 Malibu Classic with headers and dual exhaust (no-smog equipment at all)
that thing was a beast with just a stock 350 and turned many heads including CHP’s and local cops.

75Blu

I would rather see early to mid ‘70’s than a fiberglass retro-buggy.

I’m with ya on the fiberglass kit cars I call em! If they are built in 2009 guess what in my opinion they are 2009s not 34 Fords or Willys or anything but what they are a kit car built in 2009 or whatever year they were put together! They are darn nice and alot of work and money goes into them but they are not vintage! Now the 72 and down rule well I like and dislike it! Ilike it because it does limit the vehicles that can participate in an event I have been to the Woodward Dream Cruise and hated most of it because you can’t see the true Hot Rods or Muscle cars crusing for all the SUVs and MINI Vans and new mustangs and camaros and mini trucks and pick up trucks. They took a good event and made it BORING and a real pain to participate in! So pre 72 would help a lot there. Why I don’t like it is for guys like you who have a nice car with no real event to take it to. I was in that situation years ago when the rules makers who ever they are said most shows were only open to 64 and down so hopefully your time is coming and they lighten up on the pre72 thing!

I worked for Goodguys- rusty beat up stock 4-doors is why. Still plenty of them on the road. How many Novas like yours do you really see? Pretty rare.

From what I understand,Good Guys has 4 shows on the west coast called Get Togethers, they are open to everthing American made,Bring one to the Midwest, what would be wrong with that???

well I know of several ,I am a member of a forum, Stevesnovasite.com, And lets just say the numbers are growing, I have 2 friends, One has a prostreet and the other a SS clone both very nice, And as Parts beome available more and more are popping up, So really not as rare as you may think, As for the rusted out 4 doors, Ok keep them out at the gate, But let cars like mine in

Goodguys should consider allowing 72 and newer cars compete in the autocross events. I was told that the cut off date was to control the number of cars at an event. Times are changing maybe one of these sanctioning groups will realize the pro touring cars are quickly taking over saturday night racing.
