This Motorbooks Workshop is a guide to show car painting processes. It follows three cars through the process, the Mothers Pro Pane Chevelle, Jay Leno’s EcoJet and the 32 Roadster name Undisputed, an AMBR winner and Great 8 nominee. This book combines the knowledge of numerous craftsmen and is geared towards two segments, the person that is planning to do it themselves and more important, the person that is hiring a shop to do the work. It is a great tool to get an understanding of what is involved in creating flawless paint work and why it takes the time and money to do it right. In my 25 + years experience, one of the hardest parts to understand after hiring a third party for you paint project is the time between the first primer application and paint. To the untrained eye, the project appears to idle and no progress seems to be made. In reality this is the most crucial time and the defining moment between a nice weekend cruiser and an award winning car. The book is highly illustrated with hundreds of photographs and an easy to read text. As it is the case with everything in the automotive world, there are many ways to Rome, but the recommendations in this book have been proven time and time again. The processes and techniques have produced winnig cars at Pebble Beach, Amelia Island, as well as Ridler-Awards in Detroit and AMBR-Award winning cars in Pomona.
