finished painting the Vauxhall

finished painting the Vauxhall

finished painting the body and put two coats of clear on it, its just an acrylic laquer but it turned out ok for my first real go at painting, only problem i came across was trying to get the clear coat to flow nice, it seems a bit dry or orange peeley in some places mainly on the doors, I am going to leave it for a few days and block it all back and try to get another coat of clear on it,
I mixed the clear 1 part clear and 1.5 parts thiners, what would cause it to not flow so well out of the gun, ? air pressure settings or something else, ? when i sprayed the inside of the doors and shuts the day before the clear seemed to flow on a lot nicer, any tips are really welcomed. :

Looks a lot better than my first attempt at painting a car.

I was happy not to end up with zebra stripes, I watched lots of youtube vids before painting it and sprayed a 75% overlap, the basecoat went on nice but i had lots of trouble trying to get the clear coat to flow on nice so it has a bit of peel in it, mainly on the doors and a little on the centre of the roof, I am hoping i can block this out without breaking through to the base coat and then trying to put another good coat of clear over the whole car, I just need to play around with a few gun and air settings on a spare panel to try and get it to flow on a bit nicer.
thanks for the comment.
there are more pics of the paint in my barnsey’s bomb album.

Sounds like your air pressure was too low or inconsistent. When you block it, start with a 1500 grit and finish with a 2500 grit to even it out.
As long as your clear mix was to manufacturer specs, you should be fine just bump your pressure up 5 lbs. and tweak your gun till you have a nice even flow. the walls of my shop are covered in test spray.
