How's the best way to store alot of jack stands?

posted in: dave's garage, news on May 10, 2010 at 10:59 AM

Does anyone out there have a storage system for jack stands? I have 30 or so stands and they are either spread all over the shop or they are in one corner like a bunch of little soldiers waiting to go to work. I have a couple of styles and an assortment of heights but need a way to store them that takes up the least amount of room.

All suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks, Dave

Sell all but four and buy a hoist. Not meant to be funny at all – that is what I am preping my shop for right now. Think of the space you can free up!

I have a 2-post lift and not enough room for an additional one. Also, sometimes cars will set on a set of stands for months and I don’t want to tie up the hoist like that. If I had more space the jack stand thing wouldn’t be an issue. It’s kind of like Tupperware how do you store that crap then find the right lid…

Do you really need that many if you have a lift? What about making shelves to put them on? I have a metal unit in the corner of my garage with the big moffes on the bottom. And as I go up the shelf height gets smaller. The other idea is to make hanging shelves from the rafters/floor joists. Just make sure their strong and reinforced. I did this also. To free up space. Although I didn’t have to much weight on mine. The only drawback to this system is you did to be able to use a ladder or step ladder afterwards. Hope this helps you out

if you have a wall space you can hang them from hooks on the wall with all for feet aganst the wall. I’ve seen a four foot section of wall with a bunch of stands hanging off long hooks like that…
