Portland, OR = Audi land, OR?

The dude in the background of this picture is probably from Portland
Just got back from a week stay in Portland, OR and I couldn’t help but notice an inordinant number of Audis in the metro area.
Can anyone from Portland explain this to me?
I rarely see any Audi A3s around here and I saw at least 20 of them while I was there.
What gives?
