I’ve been looking though my photos of the wagon and started to wonder, Is there any other custom touches that I could do to the wagon? I’m hoping next year to air bag it. Also going to get some wide whites for it too.
Looking at this photo makes me wonder if there is anything else kool kustom to do to it?
Any suggestions?
Maybe a kustom visor?

Oh yeah! I forgot about fender skirts!!! I’d like to build a kustom grill with hidden headlights sometime.
I’ve got black dice valve stem cap and door locks. I also have black dice curb feelers but I haven’t installed them yet. Not too sure about that. What do you think Denny?
What do you think about a kustom visor?

I’m also thinking about going with the baby moons instead of the center caps I have right now.
How do you think a kustom visor would look?

NEVER! NOT WITH THAT CAR!!!
I had an 86 Cadillac that got the opera lights blown off by the jet dryers! It took forever to find replacements!

I love wagons and yours is no exception. My suggestion is to pick a period and stick with it. It appears that you like the Watson/Bellflower era. Sometimes throwing every custom trick in the book at it will only serve to take away from the end result. My thought is to ease up a little. A lot the fru-fru dice stuff doesn’t help…. I liked your car better before you started bolting all the stuff on it…lose the dummy spots…lose the trim on the leading edge of the front fenders….lose the lakes pipes and go with Bellflower tips(they suit the style of the car better)....I have never seen a tube grille that looks right in these cars, also don’t do the visor. The wide whites is a perfect fit. Put them on a set of chrome reverse or a set of Astro Supremes will fit right in and nail the look of the custom period that your panel paint and flames indicate!!!!
In almost every case less is more!!! I hope you aren’t offended…you did ask for opinions, so there you have mine. Best of luck and keep us posted

Thanks for the info. I’m not sure what the “Watson/Bellflower era” is? Got any pics to show it?
That’s why I haven’t put the dice curb feelers on yet, I wasn’t sure I’d like it.
I was thinking of some kind of custom grill but not a tube grill. I saw a 63 with on and didn’t like it too much.
The trim on the front fenders is actually factory Impala trim. I got stopped for a dim headlight and the officer thought I removed the side markers and put those there!
Do you have any pictures of the Astro Supremes?
I’m also thinking about removing the advertising on the windows.
I had put a visor on my Ford ranger that I had and wished I hadn’t. It looked good, I just was always worried about the wind ripping it off.
Thanks again.

Check out the Barge at my place for the Astros…as far as the Watson era cars…http://public.fotki.com/Rikster/11_car_photos/beautiful_custom_cars/watson_custom_cars/larry_watson_built/ ...Bellflower tips hang below the rear 1/4 panel behind the rear wheel opening. You will see some of those at that link. Keep strokin’...the car is gonna be a winner!!!

I forgot…do the pinner whites with the Astros…wide whites with the chrome reverse. Also, the lakes pipes will work with the wide whites not the pinner whites. A single outlet on the lakes looks a little less busy!!!

Here’s the photo of the car I saw on ebay that I said I wasn’t too keen on.

Yeah. I bought the 70” triple. I wish I had bought the 80” single. I could have tied they into the exhaust system if they had been longer. And then put electric cutouts.
I’ve always wanted a set of those Astros (Cragers)
Thanks for the info, that site was good info!

It’s tough keepin in the era….Cragers came about a little later than your era and are usually associated with muscle cars. The Astros were an early custom wheel that is available again. The billet grille in the 2 door wagon looks great on that build style, but would look out of place on your car.

I like the Astros better than the Cragars for the 63 wagon.
I had thought about painting the vertical parts of the grill black so that the horizontal parts looked like thin tubes.
Also thought about hiding the lights behind the grill but make the grill open up infront of the lights when they’re turned on but, I don’t know if I really want to put that much work into the grill.

Lose the roof rack to clean up the top and french in the lake pipes if you are going to run them other than that i agree with doug,s less is more. I wouldnt put curb feelers on it they are dated and cheesy. Just my opinion.

That’s kind how I was feeling about the curb feelers. Well, I took the roof rack off for a while and then I put it back on. I kind of like it with it on and I have a surf board painted to match the car now.
I guess when I look at the picture, something doesn’t look right. I’m thinking now after looking at Doug’s car that my car needs new shoes!!!
The rally wheels on it were off of other 63 I had. The tires are new tires that I had put on the Caravan a year before I decided to sell it and didn’t want to give the tires away with the old minivan. I’m thinking a set of Astros and pinner whites instead of wide whites (they’re too exspensive in my opinion). Thanks for the idea on the pinner whites Doug!
Thanks for your input!
