New Feature! View Photos in Original Size

Hey Hub Heads!

Most of you have already stumbled across a new feature we rolled out last week. While this feature is not as obvious, it is super cool. You can now view photos on the Hub in their original size.

Now you may be thinking to yourself, that’s cool Jae, but what does this mean to me?

Well, quite simply, if the original photo uploaded is larger than the processed “detail” view that we normally show you, you will now be able to see the photo in a much larger state, and I am not talking about people in Texas will see the photo more than people in Vermont.

For example, lets look at this photo (courtesy of Tanahara Design Garage)

When viewing the above photo on this detail page you may think to yourself, man I wish I could see more detail on this photo.

Zinga! Underneath this photo you will now see:

[+] view full size

Clicking the link will now let you see all the detail that is possible.

For example: You can see the photo crew in the mirror’s chrome reflection

Pretty cool!

Please Note
Not all photos uploaded to the Hub are in a higher quality than what is shown on the detail page.

Happy Hubbing!

This is a great feature Jae. I’ll be going back and looking at a lot of stuff again, and I’ll be sure and upload photos with as much detail as I can. Keep up the good work. Any hints on whats our next surprize new feature? Oh and what time zone do you work in that you can be a day ahead of the rest of us?

It is a cool feature, though I’m concerned about the artwork on the Hub. Bigger files make it more tempting to steal.

Nice noticing the timestamp :) I am on EST, but that is a little trick we have been doing here to keep the News Blogs we post up at the top for a period of time.

You are correct. I would say if you have the ability to still save them for web, at 72dpi vs 300dpi you would still have a lower quality. Also, you don’t have to go super big. The size that is on the detail pages is constrained by 600×450 pixels, so uploading something at say double that or less will still allow a bigger image, but you can still keep it low enough to not tempt people.

Hope this helps.
