I’ve had my eye out for an early 60’s Falcon for a long time. My dad drove my mom to the hospital in a red ‘62 Falcon when she gave birth to me. This is the oldest car I’ve ever owned and I’m looking forward to getting into it a little. His was called the Red Baron.
I found this by chance or maybe fate at the Goodguys 08 Nationals in Columbus in July 2008. One thing lead to another and now here it is – and the legacy continues. I’m named after my dad and am a II. So thus is born the Red Baron II (other names being tossed around The J-Bird, Baron Von Deux, Baron Von Hub ???)
This car is simple enough that I can learn alot on it and hopefully pass some of that along to my kids and let them bang around on it. Plus, IT RUNS! Always a plus. The whole family has had a great time tooling around our little town in the car so far. I’m sure there is much more fun to be had.
I’ve got no immediate plans for the Falcon. I just want to enjoy it for a while, keep it running, learn and have fun with it. I’ll keep y’all posted.

Special thanks to Brian who sold this to me – and all the other “real” car guys I’m surrounded by that are going to help me fix stuff and teach me how along the way.
