Let the Work Begin!!!

Sunday and yesterday I was finally able to start working on my winter project. It’s my 1963 VW ragtop baja bug. It was warm enough to be able to open the garage door and spread out all my stuff enough to clean up around the bug and start working on it. I got a new rag joint installed, tightened all the suspension nuts, blew out the fuel line, bled and adjusted the brakes, cleaned and installed a new tank, installed rear fuel line, hooked up the throttle cable, and finally got it started and ready to be able to move on its own power.
Back in October I had to close my shop down and move everything into my 3 car garage including the 63. I got stuff somewhat organized. ( My wife must always be able to part in the garage! ) I can walk all around the Bug but the back of the garage it totalled. (My next project) Hopefully I am getting into a new shop space in a couple of weeks. A friend of mine who is an awesome machinist and myself are pulling together our resources and going to start some new projects ( His Jeep CJ ), my 63 and start doing some car parts. Bumpers, roll cages, brakets ( I have a CNC plasma cutter) and anything else cool. I am adjusting the clutch on the Bug tonight and maybe taking it for its first drive since 1985!!!!!!! Hopefully I will post some pictures tomorrow. Let the building Begin!!!!

My first car was a ‘71 bug. Rebuilt the engine, custom oak dash and console, and recovered the seats. Loved that car. I like hearing about the work you are doing but hurry and get you pictures in. Tell your friend I had a Jeep Wagoneer too. 3.5” lift, new engine and some unique body work (rolled it.)
