About
Second owner, matching precto-o-plate
History of this Vehicle
Wife bought from original owner in 1978. Ohio car, moved to Florida. Apartment near the ocean hence the left side caught salt water spray for years. Moved back to Ohio and was daily driver. We married about 3 years in the marriage we sent the car to a trade school to have the body work cleaned up from rust. About a year later she started leaking oil. The timing chain was so work it sawed through the cover!. At 126K this small block had its first overhaul. Rebuilt the engine out of the back of my ‘75 duster. Continued to be daily driver, we moved and started a family. About the time the second child born wife complained engine idling too rough. I drove around with a vacuum gauge and discovered the valve seats were bad. Apparently I forgot to have the machine shop to put in hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel?
It was a warm September, I thought, I’ll just pull the head and get the valves redone… Aww, why work over the fenders when I can pull the engine easier and work on an engine stand. Off the heads go to the shop. While waitin for the head, why-not pull the pan and check the mains… heck its got 80K on the rebuild and its out anyhow! Might as well cleanup the lower end its right here. Oh and the transmission has over 200K on it by now, works great just leaks. Might-as-well overhaul it while I wait for the block to come back. My brother loves to rebuild the 350s. Now the transmission is out I notice, wow… look at all the rust around the seatbelt bracket. I’ll just cut that out and clean it up… I’ve been cutting 10 years!
