Summernationals & my firebird fire!

posted in: illegalautoparts.com garage, news on July 13, 2008 at 09:16 PM

Well, I had a great time at this years Summernationals. i was only there for one day but still had a good time! I saw some really cool cars, met some cool people and got to be up towards the front of the line for the burnouts. I got some video of the fireworks and some video of the cars in front of me doing their burnouts.
when it came to my turn to do my burnout I was doing good until I heard the words “FIRE!” and saw my oil pressure drop! The fire department did an awesome job and put my firebird out. I got my friend Pete to trailer me home at 2 AM in a pouring thunderstorm.
I found out that my torque converter bolts came loose and one hit my oil filter which put a hole in it. The Fire was from all the oil being pumped onto my headers. I drove the car {idling} to the nearest parking lot and as a result I think that I have a spun rod bearing. I tightened the torque converter bolts and put locktight but when I get on the throttle I can hear a noise that sounds like a rod knock. It could be a broken flywheel but I don’t have any ambition to crawl under her and try to look.
I still want to thank all the firefighters cause they put my Firebird fire out, and they prevented my home from burning down when there wasn’t any water pressure from 18 house fires that started from a mill fire on a very windy day. The flames were blowing over my home from the house next door {that is almost a half of a mile from this mill} that caught on fire.
click on my website getcamaroparts.com and go to the videos page to see a short video from “Octane TV” about the “Summernationals”
I’m gonna try to post some of my home video from the “Summernationals” on that page so check back on the site often!
“THANKS”
