Porsche 911S Dash layout
Can anyone tell us why the ignition key is traditionally placed to the left of the steering wheel in Porsche’s?

In Le Mans racing drivers made a running start, hop into their cars, start them and begin the race. With the ignition on the left it enabled the driver to start the car with his left hand and put it in gear with his right.

Congrats to both! But NO…Just Gatemac has it correct. You ever wonder how they lock the steering column from way over there?
