Enough is Enough

I have kept my thoughts to myself about the Banners until now. I understand it thats money to run this great site. But this morning I logged on and here is this banner for XXX match.com with pictures of women nude and women having sex. This is suppose to be a family site. Come on Hub crew I understand the need for the banners but at least limit this type of banner.

I’ve seen a few of these as well… The same ad showed up for me when showing a customer my Hub garage and me singing the praises of the goodness here and he points to the f#$%ing banner ad and asks if this is why I like the Hub… Not only was I embarrassed, but I could not answer his question about keeping ads in context. We were going to set up a garage for his small rod shop, BUT HE DECLINED!!! BECAUSE OF THE ADS!!!

Keep them in context – AUTOMOTIVE - or make them gone.

I too agree we don’t need those ads on a car website BUT I have never had any popups when logging into this website. I have Norton anti-virus with popup blocker turned on and IE8 with a popup blocker which may be why I’m not getting them. Also when I see a posting talking or showing a pic of women in suggestive form I avoid the post as they can hide viruses in them. Just my thoughts.

Use Firefox Browser with the add -on Adblock Plus and you will not see them again.

Hey everyone, This is unexceptable for the ad to be on here and I can tell you it was in no way intentional. The Hub Crew is hard at it trying to continue a family acceptable site. That ad is totally against the principles and policies of the HUB GARAGE.

Dear FW, We have researched this and have been unable to find any evidence that this type of banner ad was displayed. In fact, Google does not display pornographic ads and has indicated that this type of ad was not displayed. In our agreement with Google, the ads are primarily car related. While we cannot control every type of ad, we strictly prohibit inappropriate content. We are forwarding your comments to Google’s legal counsel for their review. Our site is family oriented and we intend to keep it that way. Tim Loudermilk, CEO

Hey FW -

It is highly unlikely that this advertisement was served up to you from the Hub.

The Hub is using Google at the moment for managing our ad network. Google doesn’t allow for pornographic ads to be served in any channel, and as Tim has stated, we have a relationship with Google to serve only ads in the automotive related channels.

One possibility you may want to investigate, is to check your computer for any type of Spyware or Malware.

It is not uncommon for these types of wares to hijack Google’s advertising system in your browser, since it is a widely used, openly available system, that is easy to target from a Spyware / Malware level.

Hope this helps, and I truly apologize for the inconvenience.

Cheers!

Please do, and take a screenshot if you can. If you are on a windows computer, press the Print Screen key to copy your current screen to your clipboard, then you can open something like an email and paste it in.

Cheers!
