About
The Project33 Coupe takes claim as the first street rod built entirely on the web. This 7-year project was painstakingly documented in detail on the project33.com website. Over 35 sponsors participated in this historic project that gives the world a front row seat for a glimpse of what it takes to build a well engineered performance vehicle from the ground up.
This unmistakable car blends a traditional hot rod flavor with modern safety, comfort and performance. It’s powered by a race-prepped 720HP blown and fuel injected small block featuring a modified 16-injector BDS bug-catcher EFI system.
The flawlessly straight Outlaw body features custom PPG paint with 3D flames and a custom steel hood and hood sides from SAR (featured in Street Rodder). It rolls on a modified TCI chassis with a Durant mono-spring/Magnum drop axle front and a polished Halibrand Champ quick-change rear with a TCI 4-bar link.
The black leather interior features a concealed 10-point chromo roll cage, with only the leather covered door bars visible. The interior features an Eclipse Audio/DVD/Navigation system with backup camera rear view mirror, A/C, cruise, power accessories and digital instrumentation, yet retains a clean race inspired look. Four-point safety harnesses and a chrome fire extinguisher provide added safety.
The car made its public debut while was still under construction, at the 2004 SEMA show in Las Vegas, in the Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) booth. It was a feature car at the Hot Rod and Restoration show in Indianapolis the following year and was exhibited in the PPG paint booth at the Back to the 50’s in St. Paul the following summer. It was a Street Rod Builder feature car and was also featured on an episode of Street Rodder TV.
