' Retro ' ..... Hot Rod T-Bird!

New President of SOTC thinks like a true ' Hot Rodder '!
After 25+ years of being a member of the Southern Ontario Thunderbird Club, I was beginning to think that IF it wasn’t Factory Original …. it didn’t belong in the club! Then, along comes our Incoming Pres. for 2010 and the first pic I get is of his 2002 Black T-Bird with a set of wheels that instantly reminds me of the Steve McQueen ’ Bullet ’ Mustang wheels, only with spinners! Looks awesomely TOUGH! Now that’s a leap and one I can admire. I bet even Steve McQueen himself would be impressed.
Maybe, just maybe we ’ stick-in-the-mud ’ Canucks aren’t ALL as stodgy as we’re made out to be, eh?
I know that at least in MY books, IF you own it and Henry Ford doesn’t…..make it your own! After all, isn’t that what we like about vintage cars anyway? The uniqueness! They don’t all look like everything else on the road. ‘57 Fords didn’t look like ‘57 Chevy’s or ‘57 Mopars. Isn’t it the customizing of vintage cars that brought about new ideas for new cars introduced in later years. IF this wasn’t true, would anybody really remember the Barris Brothers?
My hat is off to our NEW President for NOT being afraid to display his individuality and ’ Hot Rod ’ flair!
Now, IF I could just afford a ’ Retro Bird ’ he might have some company on the ‘Wild Side ’.

I have never been one for convention and always thought that in order to truly own a car you had to make it your own. I like being distinctive, I can always pick my cars out in the parking lot even if there are many others of the same make and model.
We all face the challenges of the purists who gasp in dis-belief when we cross the line and take a good looking car and make it look and perform better.
